A testnet is an alternative blockchain network that is used to run and test new functionalities or improvements without jeopardizing the mainnet. As the name suggests, a Public Testnet is meant for developers to try out different features and functionalities of the network, provide recommendations for improvements, and build and test their own projects on the network without facilitating actual transactions.
A public testnet is crucial for testers and developers when evaluating the feasibility and credibility of a blockchain project. Moreover, it helps the project achieve quality assurance and deploy a network that is highly performant and free of errors. Through a plethora of test case scenarios, projects escape bringing a myriad of risks to the mainnet or creating trial-and-error situations.
Inery Public Testnet
On August 10, we launched our first Public Testnet aimed to raise awareness about the Inery ecosystem, as well as allow you, the users, to test the functionalities in the network. The testnet is fundamental for the experimentation and testing of Inery ahead of the mainnet launch. It will enable the technical team to refine the ecosystem based on feedback from users.
You are only required to register your server, or as a block producer, on Inery’s testnet site to gain access to the functionalities in the simulated network. Developers can then set MEM nodes and interact with Inery CLI (command line interface) tools and utilize the RPC (Remote Procedure Call) API.
Inery Tasks on Testnet
Developers are invited to explore various activities on the Inery testnet to enhance their blockchain development skills. Here are the tasks you can perform:
- Master Approval
- Create and Transfer Custom Tokens
- Develop a Smart Value Contract
- Complete an RPC API Push Transaction
- Build a Full-Stack Web App Using IneryDB
- Create a Non-Fungible Token (NFT)
- Develop a Simple Game
These tasks provide hands-on experience with Inery's capabilities, helping you deepen your understanding of its decentralized ecosystem.
Nodes So Far…
So far, we have over 1000 master and lite nodes running, with about 800 master nodes producing blocks, in over 10 countries worldwide. 86 people fell off the first task and 35 during the second task.
The testnet is an important milestone in Inery’s journey of decentralizing data and a preliminary step toward the launch of the Inery mainnet. The Inery mainnet will be launched in Q1 2023.
Our team is currently working hard to release the first version of the IneryDB system in December 2022. After its initial release, we will open the IneryDB testnet for testing.
